Bhagavathy Temple at Kadammanitta,pathanamthitta district kerala
Valiya Padayani marks the grand finale of the annual Padayani festival. This annual event is orgnaised by the temple Devaswom and the Kadammanitta Gotra Kala Kalari.
Padayani masks (kolam) with tender areca spathes, palm fronds and natural colours are made by local artists.
A unique ceremonial procession in which the ‘Bhairavi' kolams will be taken to the performance venue on the temple premises .
The procession will be accompanied by indigenous torches (‘choottu-katta') made of dry coconut palm leaves and the unique Padayani percussion of ‘Thappu'
The ‘Bhairavi' kolam performance will be the main attraction of the Valiya Padayani. There will be different kolams, including ‘Ganapati,' ‘Pakshi,' ‘Yakshi,' ‘Kuthira,' ‘Madan,' ‘Marutha' and ‘Kalan.' |
