Thazhathangady kottayam district Kerala

It has been declared as a heritage zone by the goverment of kerala. The village was the headquarters of the Thekkumkur dynasty from the 12th to the 18th century. It was also one of the most important centres of trade in Central Kerala in the past.

Talliyil Kotta Siva Temple, was the place of worship of the erstwhile Thekkumkur royal family.

Thazhathangady Juma Masjid, on the banks of the meenachil river is considered one of the oldest mosques in the country. The architecture of the mosque reflects the kerala style.

St. Mary's Orthodox Church (Cheriyapally) buit in the 16th century

St. Mary's Knanaya Church (Valiyapally) buit in the 16th century.There is an8th Century Persian cross in the Valiyapally with ancient Pahlavi script inscribed on it.

Thazhathangady Boat Race has a history dating back to 1885.
