kottayam city will be dedicated to the nation as a mural city. it will be the second mural city in india after Shekhawati in Rajasthan. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on 25th may 2013 declared Kottayam town a ‘Mural City'.
Location: nearest international airport kochi 86 km
from trivandrum 165 km
About 350 artists from around the world participated in a 12-day painting camp organised by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi from May 13, 2013 to transform Kottayam into a mural city. Mural paintings drawn by the artists will become permanent exhibits at public places all over the town including the railway station, temples, churches and public halls.

Kottayam Public Library,
Civil Station,
district panchayat office,
CMS College
Kottayam Government Medical College.

more than 10,000 sq ft of walls in 18 places were adorned with murals as part of the project
